Church Events Make a Splash
The wet weather on August 18th didn’t stop 50 people from coming to Aliquippa First and Monaca UMC’s 4th annual joint church picnic! After a brief message from Pastor Jim, attendees enjoyed fellowship over a delicious meal of grilled ’burgers and ’dogs with a potluck variety of sides and desserts.
Thanks to everyone who braved the rain and helped in any way!
Rainclouds were nowhere in sight the following Saturday, however, when Monaca UMC welcomed the congregation and community to our 1st Annual Water Festival!
Outside, kids enjoyed the “splash zone,” which comprised a variety of sprinklers and pools to cool off in, as well as squirt guns. There were also a wide variety of games and water-related activities that engaged kids of all ages and connected them with God’s Word.
Everyone was invited to “paint a fish” in a large ocean scene as part of a group art project. It was great to have so many families from the community participate!
Inside, guests could take a break from the hot sun and make a rain-stick craft, enjoy delicious cake and cookies from the bake sale, and munch on hot dogs, chips, and snow cones.
Led by Vera Lovewell and Tina Allen, this festival was truly a team effort! Thanks to all who supported the event in any way!
