Lobby Displays Capture the Heart & History of Monaca UMC
If you have attended worship or an event at Monaca UMC in the past few years, chances are you have seen the lobby display.
Church volunteers Gretchen Harich and Joanne Ziegler take time every month to curate the display to fit with the season or a current church activity. Often an element from the church’s long and rich history is included. They do a wonderful job of brightening the lobby and helping others to celebrate the church’s past and present activities.
Some past examples include:
- Back to School (featuring historic Sunday School photos)
- June weddings (featuring wedding photos of past and present church members)
- Commemorating Applefest
- Crosses (featuring crosses of different types, including some made in Sunday School, as well as hymns)
- A tribute to our servicepeople
- Summer Vacation (featuring vacation photos from the congregation)
- Senior Methodist Organization
- Honoring our mothers and fathers
- Spring Tea (in coordination with our Ladies Tea fundraiser)
- Food Pantry (in coordination with our annual food drive)
- Pittsburgh Pirates
- Thanksgiving
You’ll find a patriotic theme in July 2024, part of which is pictured above.
While we encourage you to take time to look at the displays in person each month, you can usually find pictures on our Facebook page @monacaumc as well.
