Expanding Our Food Ministries
Free Community Lunches
In 2020, Monaca UMC set a priority of expanding upon our church food pantry to feed more people. One way this is being accomplished is through our monthly community lunches, offered from 11am—Noon on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
Volunteers are needed to choose a remaining date from the calendar and prepare a lunch for 20-40 people. Because another goal for offering these lunches is to promote fellowship in the community, the meals are provided not only to food pantry guests, but also to congregation members and other local residents.
Available dates can be found on the sign-up sheet on the Welcome Table or on the Community Lunches page of our website.
Feeding the Homeless
Thanks to Allen Johnson and other church members, Monaca UMC has recently begun working to support the Beaver County Men’s Emergency Shelter, operated by the Cornerstone of Beaver County (TCBC).
Prepared meals are needed 7 days a week to feed the 20 shelter guests. Monaca UMC has signed up to provide one dinner per month, beginning on April 19. The next available date is May 17.
The dinners are to be dropped off only; no serving is requested.
