A Festive Fundraiser
A festive vibe filled the air on Saturday, October 21st, as Fall Fest took over Monaca UMC!
Guests entering from Indiana Avenue were greeted by the tempting aromas of hot sausage, pierogi, haluski, and other foods ready for lunch, as well as the lingering scent of the hundreds of pies, apple dumplings, and other goodies that had been prepared for the massive bake sale.
Kids with fun designs painted on their faces were seen toting balloon animals and decorated pumpkins, after participating in the free children’s activities.
The craft show featured 17 different vendors with unique handmade and locally crafted items for sale. One of the vendors, Halyna Schaner of Touch My Heart Accessories, dedicated a portion of proceeds from her sales to help the people of Ukraine. She explained that she has family living in Ukraine and that sadly, war has become a way of life there. The fine detail work of cross-stitching and embroidering jewelry is a productive distraction for her. She thanks Monaca UMC for continuing to keep the people of Ukraine on our prayer list.
All of the vendors had unique, beautiful, and practical things for sale. (Please continue to support their businesses!)
Winners of the expansive gift basket auction delighted in their prizes, which included large, themed baskets and donated items from the craft vendors.
None of the event’s success would have been possible without the many, many volunteers who made soup or chili, baked, got the word out, and helped leading up to, during, and after the event. It truly was “all hands on deck!” Thank you to all who contributed in any way!
